Masami Nagasawa and Masaki Okada will return for the second live-action feature film adaptation of the “Gin Tama” manga and anime series.
Titled “Gin Tama 2: Okite wa Yaburu Tame ni koso aru” (Gin Tama 2: Codes are meant to be broken), the movie will hit theaters on Aug. 17.
The film is based on a manga of the same name by Hideaki Sorachi. The first movie, starring Shun Oguri as protagonist Gintoki Sakata, came out in July 2017.
Nagasawa reprises her role as Otae, the older sister of Shinpachi, played by Masaki Suda. The actress added a new dimension to her acting skills by portraying the pretty-faced muscle in the first movie.
Okada is again cast as Katsura Kotaro, a revolutionary who is Gintoki’s childhood friend and his former comrade.
His extraterrestrial pet, Elizabeth, is also set to appear again for a scene beyond the imagination.
It has also been announced that Tsuyoshi Muro, Midoriko Kimura, Kabuki actor Nakamura Kankuro, Yuya Yagira, Ryo Yoshizawa and Tsuyoshi Domoto will reprise their roles.
